Then it displayed who the story writer was and who produced the film. After, it showed the executive producers, the creator of the based-on characters, the director of photography, the production designer, the editor, the visual effect supervisor, who the casting is by, the costume designer, who the music is by, the music supervisor. For last, the various companies and the title of the movie as the ending of the opening sequence. The images prioritized in the opening sequence are photographs of creepy images that convey a spine-chilling sensation. These images include a comparison of the actual people from the real-life story to the actors who played them in the movie. Additionally, there are pictures of the surroundings of the main setting, the house in which the horrifying acts occurred, which bring an unsettling feeling. Lastly, there are some images that will later be seen in the movie to foreshadow what will happen. The connotations of the images in this opening sequence carry the intention of attempting to scare and bring fear to the audience. They try to cause shock and disbelief with the fact that it’s a true story. Moreover, the tension-building images are meant to pump the audience's heart and kick their adrenaline. The film establishes the feeling of a true horror film by making the images very disturbing and alarming. Doing so will grab the attention of the audience and make them want to see the rest of the movie if they can take it mentally. Overall, the movie makes everything frightening and hair-raising. Some strategies that are used to ensure that the film appeals to its audience are the tones of the images, petrifying music and sound, creepy shots, and slow-paced shots. Since it all goes slow it makes the film eerie and spine-chilling. Overall, its target audience is people who enjoy the horror genre and intense, scary feelings. They make sure to reach this audience just by the beginning sequence, also, by containing a daunting sound of an interview with a demon. In addition, it includes slow paced music to give it an extra blood-curdling mood. Technology plays an enormous part in filming a movie. It has been used effectively in this film, for one, when transitioning from image to image. It used many jump cuts to display many of the photographs taken. The non-diegetic sound, the clicks of the camera, made the movie even better by creating suspense and anticipation. Furthermore, there are many establishing and wide shots to show the house and its surroundings. This helps the audience recognize the scary sensation from the beginning. Next, the coloring and filters of each photograph give it a dark, appalling emotion. Then, there are many eye level shots to give a clear view of every person and setting. Lastly, the costumes are made to be similar to those of the real people which is even more sinister.
