Reflection Questions

Creative Critical Reflection 1.                 1.How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social       groups or issues? My commercial represents athletes and young adults. My commercials represents athletes because Nike is partly a athletic wear brand. They have running shoes, soccer cleats, and etc. My commercial also represents athletes because most of the Nike commercials show people working out or being active. I represented this in  my commercial by running with my Nike running shoes. I also represented this by walking up stairs and running down them. My commercial additionally represents young adults. My commercial represents young adults by showing my Nike Air forces.  Nike Air Forces are amongst one of the most popular shoes in this era. Almost every teenager or young adult has some sort of Nike Air Force ones. In my commercial I gave a 180 view of the shoes to show that you can get them in different color combinations and different s

My Commercial

This is my first Media Studies project. First off, I learned that I think that I need to have a group. Some of my scenes were difficult to film. In the middle of my project I asked some of my friends to help me film. Additionally, for the next time I also need to fix my lighting. My lighting was off in the beginning and ending of my video. Overall, I had a lot of fun. Nike is one of my favorite brands and that's why I am so glad I choose to do a Nike commercial. I also really liked my commercial idea because while I was filming I got to workout. However, I know I still have so much to improve on.

Today, October 13 th , I finished editing my commercial. So today I started working on my scene 5 design. The first thing that I did was sketch how I was going to project it. I started with the universal swoosh. It is a little larger than normal. Afterward I decided to overlay the motto. I overlayed “Just Do It” on top of the swoosh with a shadow. I put Just Do It with a shadow because it is on top of the swoosh. The swoosh is white and so are the words, so I had to make it stand out. For the background, I decided for it to be black. I wanted this because it would be like a shock at the almost ending to my commercial. I made the fifth scene, five seconds by recording it on screen recording. Afterwards, I cropped it and turned it into a video. The second part I started working on is music. I added an iMovie sound. I tried adding the most motivational sound because most Nike commercials have impactful music. So, I chose the one that made me feel like getting up and working out. Or doing

Making time.

Today Monday, October 11 I started editing my commercial. What I did first was I added all of the shots that I took into apple iMovie. I put every single shot in there every single taken there because I wanted to see what worked and what didn’t work. So that ended giving me a commercial of three minutes and 28 seconds. I need to cut it down to 30 seconds. So what I did first was cut down the first scene. I cut it down to the most important part where it goes in a 180 around my shoe. Nothing less nothing more. My next scene that was very long was a scene of me walking. So for the scene I edited it moving backwards and forwards. So I created a transition as a fade in so it looks smooth. I also cut this shot down to 5 seconds. I really like this one because during the filming I made sure to give myself enough time. Enough time for me to be able to edit me walking in frame and    out of the frame. So it made my job as editor a lot easier. For the next scene which is of me walking up the s

Keep running!

Thursday, October 7, I started filming my last scene for my project. This scene that I’m filming is my running scene. The scene replicates how most Nike commercials are. Most Nike commercials have someone doing some sort of exercise. Mostly it’s people on the track, running. Due to this evidence I found while researching, I decided that I would include running on the track in my commercial. First off,I had to change very quickly. Then, I ran out to the track with one of my friends that was helping me film. It was extremely hot outside. I was sweating the second I got on the track. The first thing that I decided to film was me sprinting from the start line to half of the track. It took a while to get the shot because I also wanted to look like a panoramic shot.  Due to having to redo takes, I was exhausted before I was even finished. I was already red like a tomato. After that shot I had to tie my shoes because my laces were untied. While I was tying my shoe my friend decided to videot

Quick, Change!

Today Tuesday, October 5 I started filming scenes three and four. So today I had to do both scenes. So in the beginning I was doing scene three so I changed into something more formal. Like nice business pants. I also changed into my Nike Air Force ones. It took me a couple of tries to show the shoe. I was doing the scene where I walk up the stairs very slowly because I have time. However, the angle wasn’t correct so I had to keep changing it. I also was becoming very tired of walking up and down the stairs. But then after three tries I got the right angle. I think it matches perfectly what I was trying to go for. Then after that I had to climb up the hall stairs again to go change into my athletic wear outfit. What I’m wearing for my fourth scene which is the athletic wear outfit is Athletic sweatpants, athletic material shirt, and my activewear sneakers. Through this scene I had to act like I was in a rush going down the stairs. The purpose of me being in a rush is showing how Nike
