Production blog: Music Overview
In the beginning it’s was very difficult to find a group song. My group and I went over and over what the song should be. In the beginning our thoughts were to use an instrumental horror song. Most likely piano or first playing in the background with creepy sounds. However, we watched many opening sequences of horror movies and did our research. Soon after we had plans of using an actual song. With that song we make the surroundings suspicious to creat that tense ambience. The song we chose is called “Tiptoe through the Tulips” by Tiny Tim. This song is a regular song though it very weird and matches a horror movie song. It just makes everything seem weirder than it already is. This song came out in 1968. We had worries of contacting artists. This was due to my group and I communicating with other groups to see what they were doing. Many told my group and I how many artist were not responding. Many never received a response back. We had many doubts but in the end it ended up working out. Due to the song being made in 1968, my group and I didn’t even have to worry about emailing it contacting an artist for copyright rights. This song is already royalty free. After this song was chosen I made sure to go over with my group to make sure that we were all on board. We talked so many things over. And we also cleared some problems up with our schedules clashing and how the short film was going to play out. The music was the foundation to our whole film.
